We are homeowners and residents of State Street between Smith Street and Bond Street in Brooklyn who are coming together to … keep State Street residential.
Over the past 20 or more years, this community stuck together to ensure that these two great blocks be buffered fromĀ downtown Brooklyn and link to the rest of residential Boerum Hill. Residents on this street have been working for years to make sure that this street remains a great place to raise our families.
Today, one of the vacants lots left on our street (the north east corner of State and Hoyt Streets) is in danger of being sold for the construction of a large private school for 350 kids, plus teachers andĀ staff.
The members of this group want to do what is best for this community in the long term as well as the short term.
If, like us, you live here and you want to keep our neighboorhood residential, join us and make your voice count by becoming a supporter.
Any “great place to raise our families” — which you claim to support — includes schools. If you think this schools are a valuable commodity for a family neighborhood, you should be willing to accept them on your block.
Dear Bklynite,
Thanks for your comment.
As per our response to your previous great comment, I would encourage you to read the content of our blog and understand what it is we are against and what it is we are for.
If like us you live on State St between Smith and Hoyt St, then I am sure you can appreciate the type of traffic, noise, disruption, etc such a project would bring to our neighborhood. As explained before, much more appropriate sites have been and still are available for BFS that would be much more appropriate and would be have the entire community’s approval.
If however you do not live on our blocks, then I think you should respect the right of the local residents to have a say in the future of their own neighborhood.
